Reports To Finance Officer

Scope of Position To assist in providing and maintaining efficient & effective financial services to Oxfam’s program. Responsible for implementation of defined areas of work within the finance function. To ensure that Oxfam in India has effective approaches to financial management and control, ensure consistent & robust financial systems and generation of timely & accurate information to support the business of the organisation.

Key Responsibilities • Process bills and invoices for payments following Oxfam’s standard procedures and statutory requirements.
• Responsible for cash transactions including requisitioning from bank, safe keeping, cash receipt and payments following Oxfam’s standard procedures and maintaining daily balance register.
• Carry out day to day banking functions for the office.
• Input transactions into Tally.
• Prepare cheques and vouchers for making payment against approved vouchers.
• Preparation and filing of all accounting documents in chronological order.
• Maintain the fixed assets register including tagging of Assets.
• Responsible for bank reconciliation and maintaining the fixed assets register.
• Responsible for maintaining advance registers and month – end reconciliations.
• Preparations of Partner Grant Agreements, timely releases of partner grants and follow up of their Utilisation Certificates.
• Preparation and submission of monthly TDS challans and preparing reconciliation of tax (staff and suppliers) and PF deductions.
• Preparation of Donor reports.
• Assist the Finance Officer in preparation of budgets.
• Conduct partner monitoring visits and support the partners in developing appropriate financial systems
• Provide necessary support in Humanitarian response.
• Assist Finance Officer in capacity building of Partner Organisations.
• Provide admin and logistical support to the office.
• Assists Finance Officer in performing other responsibilities as and when required.
Qualifications and Experience • 2 years experience as accountant
• Graduate in commerce from any recognized university.
• Computer literate – proven experience of working in advanced word processing/ spreadsheet.
• Knowledge of Tally accounting packages is essential.
• Sound numerical skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good time management ability
• Ability to work independently with large volumes of data with initiatives and with problem – solving ability
• Commitment to the aims and objectives of Oxfam.
• Previous working experience in an international NGO environment would be an added advantage

Relocation During the course of employment the post holder may be required to move base on a temporary or permanent basis to any workplace controlled by Oxfam India
Travel Ability to travel within country and abroad as required.
