Terms of Reference for applications to support the work of UN entities in India with the media in Rajasthan at the District level

The United Nations entities in India work with the media to further knowledge sharing on the Millennium Development Goals. In this context, the UN is proposing to work with the media in Rajasthan focusing at the District level. The UN Resident Coordinator’s Office would like to invite proposals from organizations in Rajasthan to strengthen the understanding and capacities of the media at the District level on development issues and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).

Terms of Reference:
• Conduct a series of 10 district level workshops MDGs in the context of rights and entitlements for journalists in Rajasthan
• The workshops would be conducted in Hindi
• The districts would include Udaipur, Chittorgarh, Sirohi, Barmer, Jhalawar, Dungarpur, Dholpur, Rajasamand, Barmer and Tonk
• Media reports in the 10 districts would be monitored over a one year period
• The entire project should be completed by 31st January 2010

Expected deliverables:
• Organising one workshop with a minimum number of journalists agreed to mutually in ten Districts
• Identifying and arranging for resource persons for the workshop
• Developing and disseminating resource material/training modules in Hindi for the workshop
• Dissemination of news based on rights framework and entitlements to the State/National media
• Monitoring of media reports in each district for one year
• Project Report – substantive and financial (one per workshop and one consolidated report)
• The organization would be responsible for the logistics for organising the workshop (including venue, board, lodging, travel and transport of participants, developing the content and resource material, translation, monitoring and dissemination of news articles etc)
• The above deliverables will be in consultation with the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator in India.
