Foundation for Social Transformation: enabling north east India (FST)
Invites applications from people of the region for the post of Programme Manager.

FST is a secular, not for profit, gender just, non political organisation conceived, led and managed by people from the region, to support forward looking initiatives in north east India. Located at Guwahati, Assam, FST supports creative approaches for solutions to critical issues of the region, along parallel tracks of grant making to organisations & individuals for working on thematic areas and building capacities and knowledge through training and networking.

FST is a young organisation and the Programme Manager will report to the Executive Director and lead a small programme team, and is expected to:
• Assist the Executive Director in planning and implementation of all programmes; drafting fundraising proposals; Develop new ways to enhance operations and scale up visibility of FST from the grassroots to the regional and national level.
• Develop a database of potential stakeholders in FST’s grant making, fund raising and training programmes;
• Identify and manage potential partners in coordination with Ex. Director and Board; Ensure participatory approaches using community perspective in planning and implementation.
• Coordinate assessment of needs of partners, design and organise appropriate training and mentoring strategies. Monitor the partners’ project implementation, budget and finances in liaison with their management and team.
• Network and develop monitoring and impact–reporting skills with partners. Facilitate communications and information exchange; arrange for and/or compose articles for newsletter;
• Maintain knowledge of FST administration and accounts for efficient functioning within programmes and specific budget heads; Prepare drafts of interim and final narrative and financial reports in accordance with project requirements.
• Demonstrate a willingness to be flexible and innovative and grow with the team in a changing work environment while maintaining effectiveness and efficiency.
• Work with programme team members to set goals, resolve problems in a democratic way, to ensure implementation of the project to highest standards.

The applicant should have:
 Postgraduate degree in social sciences or related field from a recognised institution with at least 4-5 years experience in the above areas.
 Strong co-ordination, analytical and negotiation skills
 Good judgement, an ability to lead a team, and cope in difficult and diverse situations
 Experience of working with grassroots organizations in the north east region.
 Familiarity with grant making procedures is a definite advantage
 Fluency in spoken and written English and proficiency in using computers for official work, including Word processing, Excel, PowerPoint, email and internet etc.
 Good writing skills and experience in the preparation of reports in English language.
 Knowledge of languages of the North Eastern states would be an added advantage.
