Salary Range INR 4.2 to 4.8 lakh per annum (inclusive of all benefits)


Scope of Position

Global March Against Child Labour is the global campaigning platform against economic exploitation of children and for education rights. It is a mutli-stakeholder network of trade unions, teachers associations and child rights organizations in over 100 countries.

Global March seeks a Project Manager (CSR) to successfully implement a consultative process pertaining to the potential problems associated with violations of domestic and international labour standards, particularly child labour in the context of manufactured products and services. The aim of the project is to build consumer confidence in purchasing ethically traded products and services by recommending solutions to prevent child labour. The main activities of the project are (i) research; (ii) organising multi-stakeholder discussions; and (iii) developing recommendations to improve labour standards.

The successful candidate must have at least three years experience in managing and implementing projects. They must have knowledge of consumer policy and/or ethical trade issues and labour standards and should have experience in compliance or social auditing practices in the corporate sector, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) or home-based units, particularly in areas such as carpet manufacturing, handicrafts, sports goods, textiles, garments and allied sectors. The candidate will be responsible for working with a diverse range of stakeholders in the corporate, government and non-profit sectors and must therefore have excellent communication, negotiation, networking skills. The candidate must also work well in a multi-cultural team as well as be able to use their own initiative. They must also have good time management skills and be able to adhere to a strict budget.

Job Description
The roles and tasks the candidate will have to carry out

 Organise and run meetings workshops and other liaison activities with representatives from the corporate, government and non-profit sector.
 Organise high-profile national conferences and events.
 Undertake necessary administrative tasks required as a follow-up to meetings and events, such as writing minutes of meetings, circulating minutes etc.
 Using a range of different methods, conduct research into corporations, non-profits, unions, manufacturing processes, social auditing etc.
 Manage and support independent consultants and volunteers conducting work under the auspices of the project.
 Ensure effective communication with all project stakeholders to ensure they are fully updated with the project’s progress.
 Coordinate a diverse portfolio of project activities in liaison with key stakeholders.
 Write high-quality documents, polices and publications as required.
 Ensure the effective management of relationships with major donors, key partners and project stakeholders.
 Oversee the effective recruitment and management of consultants, volunteers and interns.
 Lead or contribute to organisational learning and other management activities across corporate social responsibility and ethical trade programmes.
 Lead the development, implementation and review of the Global March’s corporate social responsibility and ethical trade plan, in accordance with the Global March’s strategic plan and program policies.
 Ensure the timely and efficient financial management, administration and reporting of the project in accordance with management systems and financial controls.
 Ensure financial resources are aligned with organisational priorities and plans.
 Be prepared to travel extensively in-country, for up to two weeks per month, to carry out duties associated with the project.
 Work effectively with other staff in the office and ensure compliance with local procedures and operating agreements, including active participation in staff meetings.
 Other related tasks as delegated and agreed.

 An understanding of development issues including the linkages between local, national, regional and global determinants of poverty.
 An understanding of labour issues, production supply chains and the social audit processes in manufacturing units.
 Some experience of working with corporations and/or trades councils.
 Some experience of working with NGOs and/or unions.
 At least three years work experience in positions relevant to this post.
 An understanding of the role of advocacy in bringing about policy and practice change (desirable).
 Knowledge of new media technology (desirable).
 A relevant higher degree (desirable)
