Description of Groupe Developpement

Groupe Developpement is an international NGO that works on child protection, poverty alleviation and livelihoods.
Site Internet : Its South Asian regional programme focuses on preventing trafficking and exploitation of children. It has a regional office in India (SARO) with country offices in Pakistan and Nepal – and aims to set up a country office in Bangladesh to manage and coordinate projects that GD supports in Bangladesh (website: – last updated in 2008).

Groupe Dιveloppement regional office for south Asia is in Kolkata, and has a team of 15 people. The team comprises of project management department (project managers are responsible for monitoring of projects and mentoring partner organisations) and a programmes’ department (this is the technical support wing responsible for training and capacity building of the organisations), a department of finance, administration and contracts and an information officer. The regional office also monitors country offices of Nepal and Bangladesh and coordinates with Pakistan country office in specific areas of collaboration.

Reporting To: Regional Director in Kolkata

Job Purpose:

The post holder will be directly responsible for the implementation of the Case Management project in the allocated state(s). This includes partnership and networking operational planning, resource mobilization, implementation, monitoring and other follow up as required.

The person would initially require to work in a home based set up and work on setting up from setting a office space, building the team and implementing the project.

Key responsibilities:

This role would require entrepreneurship skills to start an entire set up on the proposed project of ‘SANYUKT’ focusing on Case management.

• Build and Lead the project team and ensure achievement of project goals in a cost effective and timely manner.
• Reporting from the partners to be ensured, are effectively managed and provided with appropriate, timely and practical support in designing, developing and delivering the projects.
• Ensure that project officers and the projects under purview are fully compliant with donor procedures and policies.
• Support the Head of Programs and other team as and when required.
• Ensure timely submission of progress reports (monthly, quarterly, bi-annual, annual and as per the donor requirement).
• Network and liaise with external stakeholders including Government departments and other like minded organizations at regional level.
• Identify opportunities and contribute to undertaking Research initiative
• Contribute to the development of the project proposals.
• Ensure compliance with GD policies and practices, including the child protection policy.
• Assist in preparing and monitoring Actual expenditure for partner/project areas against budgetary allocations
• Comply with Management decisions

Professional Qualifications and Experience:

• An understanding of child centered, rights-based approach and development issues as they apply to the social development sector.
• Strongly preferred experience in Case Management
• Keen interest in starting up an independent project and the ability and experience in setting up an office and working independently.
• Experience in Partnership management and skills for facilitating participatory development processes.
• Experience of program design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of integrated projects along with strong coordination and facilitation skills with multiple partners.
• Minimum 3-4 years of program management experience in NGO / INGO
• Knowledge of working with Children in difficult circumstances with a focus on Child Protection issues.
• In-depth knowledge and a proven track record of implementing general social sector projects would be desirable.
• Strong observation and analytical skills to manage program, partners and capture best practices for documentation and identification of area of improvement
• Experience of making and executing communication and monitoring tools
• Experience in budget making and analysis
• Knowledge of MS Officer and other similar software
• Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to work effectively in a Development - Management environment. Excellent Project Management skills essential.
• Good Proposal / Report writing and Documentation skills.
• Qualification – Masters in Social Work/Rural Development/Sociology or equivalent degree from institution of Repute.
• Fluency in Hindi (regional language wherever required) and English – both written and verbal
• Willingness to travel extensively
